Andries Stockenström guesthouse and Gordon’s restaurant invites you on a true Karoo culinary adventure.

This is a unique opportunity to discover the very origin of Chef Gordon Wright’s world famous Karoo Cuisine. As he sources virtually all his ingredients locally and is a stickler for food quality and freshness, Gordon personally hunts and prepares all his own venison for use in his kitchen. If he needs fish he catches it himself too.
His insistence of knowing the origin of all his ingredients “from the Karoo veld to your fork” is what makes his Karoo cuisine the legendary experience that it is and has cognoscenti the world over proclaiming it amongst South Africa’s finest.
During your three night stay, Gordon will personally teach you the African bush craft and ethical hunting skills he has learned from a lifetime of hunting in the Great Karoo, once ready, you will have the opportunity to ethically hunt your very own wild Karoo game for the pot and spend an evening on a Karoo farm in the area. Gordon will teach you the intricacies of venison preparation and then you will get to plan a venison inspired 4 course gourmet dinner and prepare it with Gordon (in his restaurant) and fellow guests on your last evening at the Andries Stockenström Guesthouse.
Should you not be the hunting type, Gordon can tailor a more “veggie friendly” experience which will include day trips to working Karoo farms in the area and any number of tailor made packages are available and can be negotiated directly with Gordon.
